Eileen Hummel is the owner, director, and head teacher of Imagination Pre-School and teaches one of the Enrichment Classes.
Eileen has over 25 years experience teaching on the
early childhood level and seven years teaching at
Imagination Pre-School. She received her Bachelor
of Science at Long Island University in 1969, majoring
in Elementary Education and her Master of Science
in Continuing Education at Stony Brook University
in 1983.
Prior to owning Imagination Pre-School, Eileen worked as director and head teacher at a local nursery school for seven years. During this time she was also owner and director of Setauket Day Camp in the same location. In previous years Eileen taught in other local pre-schools and worked as a substitute teacher in Middle Country, Port Jefferson, Commack and Kings Park School Districts. She also taught Head Start and First Grade in Brooklyn.

Over the years Eileen has personally
taught hundreds of pre-schoolers in Brookhaven and Smithtown
and is known as “Miss Eileen” in the community.
Eileen is a member of the Three Village Chamber
of Commerce and was previously on the Board of Directors.
In June 2004 she was given the award of “Chamber Member
of the Year” for the many toys collected at the annual
holiday toy drive. These toys are given out by Santa and
others, including Eileen, to children in the hospital in
December.
Eileen is also on the Board of Directors for
the Walk for Beauty. This organization is affiliated with
Stony Brook University Hospital and raises money for breast
cancer and prostate cancer research.
All teachers at Imagination Pre-School have
a four-year college degree. They have either a degree in
Elementary Education or a few years experience in our classrooms
as an Assistant Teacher. Assistant teachers are required
to have a high school diploma. The entire staff attends
an annual CPR training course taught by a certified NYC
firefighter. All staff members are moms themselves with
“mommy wisdom”. The most important qualification
of each staff member is that they be nurturing, loving,
patient and caring with the children. The majority of the
staff knew Eileen personally as parents of pre-schoolers
in the school.
